First, the giveaway. Thanks so much to everybody for the answers, and Robyn, Rene, and Lis, please e-mail me your choice of the book.
Second, let me spread the sunshine. My granny is back at home, hip seems to be healing fine, and though it's strange to know she's in a wheelchair, she's very optimistic. Honestly, she never complains, and it doesn't stop to amaze me. She accepts everything with such graciousness that I hope to be like her when I grow up - I mean when I'm that age.
Now, about another oldest member of my family whom I'll admire forever. My grandpa (maternal side). In WWII, he was captured by the Nazis, but he managed to survive and come back to my grandma. They've been married for more than 50 years, literally until death did them apart. And that is love, folks. That is love. I admire him not only because he manages to survive, and therefore, a victor in my eyes. And not only for the selfish reason that has he not, has he given up, I wouldn't have existed. I admire him because he's lived his life with such quiet dignity that few people can. He's my hero.
Writingwise, heros are partly why we read and write romance. So from books and/or real life, bodywise, characterwise, lifestylewise, who's your hero?
Actually one of my favourite heroes is from the movie The Lady Vanishes - the Michael Redgrave character. He and the heroine didn't hit it off, but when she claims that "the lady has vanished" he is the only one who believes her (and she turns out to be right)
