Granny, Happy Birthday, and Tag

Thanks a million to everybody for good wishes for my granny! She's had a surgery, is now in rehab and doing physical therapy, though she can't walk yet. We're hoping, hoping... Honestly, she's the kindest, sweetest, nicest person in the world, and anybody who knows her can't help adoring her.

And I had several people asking, so yes, 31 of December was my birthday. I'm a New Year baby. It was also one of those round dates, with 0 on the end. So I'm not a spring chicken anymore. Well, summer maybe. June.

Lis, sorry it took me so long, but here's the tag. 4 jobs I had: freelance writer, reporter, English instructor, and a model (no, not that kind - it was much more simple and prosaic, modeling for paintings, and yes, I did have all my clothes on).

4 favorite foods: strawberry cheesecake, peach ice-cream, cherries in chocolate, and any seafood except raw octopus (tastes like rubber).

4 TV shows I enjoy: Grey's Anatomy; CSI: Special Victims Unit; CSI: Miami; American Next Top Model.

4 places I've travelled to (only 4?): Wetzlar, Germany; most parts of Texas; Vilnus, Lithuania; Warsaw, Poland.

4 places I'd like to visit (again, only 4?): New York, Paris, Tokio, and going on safari in Kenya doesn't sound too bad either! (the girl can dream, right?)

I spent most of my birthday at the hospital with granny, but we had some nice dinner for the New Year. Let me live vicariously through you. How was your New Year celebration?

Glad your granny is doing better.
My NY was a party in the house--and a friend piped Auld Langsine at midnight. Took me a few days to get over the late night though, and I wasn't hardly drinking :)

One of those round dates with an "0", eh? Pretty vague, woman. Pretty vague.
Best wishes to your Granny for a speedy recovery.

Toni, thanks! We used to open champagne at midnight, and sometimes celebrate through the morning, so celebrating without champagne felt weird. Thanks for sharing!

Lis, thanks! Casino hopping? Oh, girl, I'm envious. Even if you didn't win, it must have been an awesome experience!

Crystal*, thanks! And thanks for good wishes. I know I've been vague. Okay, I'll confess. It's 30.

So happy your granny is doing well. Hope she continues to improve :) I did literally nothing on new year's eve, and went shopping with a friend on Jan. 1. They say what you do on new year's will be your focus for the year, so if I'm not having sex, I might as well be shopping!

Marty, thanks for the kind words, much appreciated. Lol, and doing shopping for an entire year sounds like fun! And I also heard the saying "The way you meet the New Year, that way you'll spend the New Year" or something like that.

Belated Birthday greetings to you, Olga! And I hope your Gran is doing better and better each day.

Our New Years was loooong! Didn't go to bed until 9 the next morning, so subsequently I greeted the New Year with sleepiness. Not exactly ideal. :-?

Glad to her your granny is doing better.

Happy belated birthday.

New Year's Eve was spent at home with the kids. I cheated and found an east coast feed so the kids could watch the ball drop at 9 our time. We had a nice steak dinner and watched movies. I didn't even realize when we passed midnight.

Meretta, yes, your New Year was long! My record, I think was 8 in the morning. But if you had lots of fun, that was very much ideal!

Rene, thanks! Lol about the time - you're such resourceful mom! But I always watch midnight, maybe out of habit.

It was nice. We actually have about six or seven casinos around here and we ended up going to 4, including the newest one where we got free cardboard hats and noise makers. The best thing is the free glass of champagne at midnight *g*
